We had a busy week full of geometry and learning about the early humans. We will continue these studies for a few more weeks and we will start a mini poetry unit next week.
Thank you parents who were able to come and chaperone our Orienteering trip today. We didn't have the best weather, but the kids had a pretty good time learning about directions while looking for controls and trying to earn their team the most points. Today, third graders are bringing home their speech assignment for the end of the year promotion celebration. Please help them get their thoughts and ideas on paper and then start practicing their speech so they will be ready to present to the class on the morning of May 23rd. After their speech, I will be presenting them with a going away class book. Parents are welcome to attend. All students have made great progress working with money this year! Although we had to cancel our trip to the bank, the bank will be coming to us on Monday to give a presentation about money management and business operations. You will find in homework folders today a business plan that we have been discussing in class. This week, in lieu of math homework, students may choose to create a business plan and product to "sell" at the business event we will be having in class on Tuesday. Some examples include origami, cookies, art work, etc. Each student will be given $25 dollars, play money of course, to use for their product production and to purchase items from other businesses. Please help your child create their business plan this weekend and return it on Monday so I can approve it and give them a business license to sell their product on Tuesday. Thank you for sending in extra snack last week! Snack helpers for next week are: Aidan, Nina, Erin, Mathais and Wyatt.

I don't think I can say thank you enough for all you do for our classroom, thank you! Coming home today is one form that you can fill out to give your child permission for the last three trips this school year. Please fill them out and return them at your earliest convenience. There is a total cost of $20 that will cover the bus expenses for these trips. We will be Orienteering at Bartlett next week on the Friday the 4th so those of you who are adventurous, please bring your walking shoes and join us as we go on a nature walk and learn about cardinal directions. Even if you can't ride the bus with us, you are always welcome to meet us there.
We had a busy week with finishing up our grammar studies with the Interjection. Next week, 2nd and 3rd graders will begin their Grammar review work that will cover all parts of speech. We also continued our Geometry studies on points, lines, planes and solids. We will be covering several topics in these last few weeks and should be finished with all Geometry books by the last week of school. Next week, we are planning on learning about types of lines, angles, and Early Humans. We have been working on a class book for quite some time now and we are just about finished. I am sending order forms home today for families who wish to purchase one. I need to have all forms mailed in by Wednesday, May 2nd next week so please return forms by then if you wish to purchase one. Everyone forgot to bring snack this week... We still have some reserves left over from our trip thankfully, however if you'd like to send in a make up, please feel free to do so. ***Snack helpers for next week are: Liam, Max, Levi, Aubrey, and Eugene. Thank you, Mrs. Jasmin Wow!! Kenai was AWESOME! I want to thank you all for supporting our efforts to bring technology and engineering into our classroom this year. The kids had a great time and a very memorable experience. Thank you so much chaperones, drivers and bus riders, for coming along with us and helping everything run smoothly. Hopefully it was a memorable experience for you as well!
Here is the line up of our field trips for the rest of the year...

Please remind your child of the importance of staying in their own personal space and making safe choices with their bodies. The weather is getting warmer but it is still pretty cool in the mornings so please make sure your child has a warm enough jacket for the weather. Snack helpers for next week are: Wyatt, Quentin, Brooklyn, Rah’miya and Granite. ***We are just about out of reserve snack so if you missed your snack day this week, please send in a make up snack when you can.
